My girlfriend has a HP Pavilion G6 Model # 1B50us laptop. The laptop was getting really slow so she was going to do a factory reset.

Ok here is the problem. She had made backup or recovery disks using Fujiflim DVD-R disc, after she first got the laptop. When I started to do the reinstall, disk 1 worked just fine but disk 2 does not work. It comes back with disc error or just ejects it in 10 minutes or so and is still asking for disc 2. Also I guess in the process of doing this she formated the hard drive inculding recovery partion and later she told that she had the hard drive replaced, from a 500gb because it had crashed and she had replace with a 130gb hard drive. So my question is how do I repair disc 2 so it will work? I have already tried to copy the disc and it comes back with a disc error using Nero.

2nd question is since it does not have the factroy 500 gb hard does that affect it? I am asumming that it worked before since the 130gb hd had window 7 on it. I have tested the hd and everything checks as good and I even tried to repair it and do the reinstall using a portable usb dvd drive. Is there a program that might be able to repair this disc or is the best to do is order a replacement windows 7 64bit discs from HP? If I have left anything out please let me know and i will try to get you the info. You did try HP recovery discs from another HP that was the same OS bit based? If not and are different that won't work. If you have acces to repair HP disc use that to repair the troubled PC, it should ask for disc(s) to recover from or do the basic restore of the OS alone. If you have a bootable PC, then you really got the most from the recovery/restore minus the possible apps or PC status at the time or creation. If bootable, then HP should provide the apps /pgms. That were shipped via the support website.

HP does provide recovery/restore discs for a small cost compared to buying full versions if available, so check the ability to do that if all else fails.tada -Willy. Yes I have a hp Folio with Windows7 64-bit os, from the hp website it said that her's (hp pavilion g6) came with Windows 7 64-bit. I came with a 500gb hd but it crashed (not use able) so she had it replace with 130gb hd. When you boot it up it come up with bootmgr missing. So i created a rescue disc which will load the HP recovery manager but since there is no recovery partition on the hd that is useless. I said before that she formatted the hard as it always does when you do a factory reinstall. I dont know if it partitioned that too or if it was never on there because of hd swap.

She does have the 4 windows 7 reinstall disk that she burned when she bought the laptop. Disk 1 of factory reinstall works fine but disk 2 does not load, that is the problem.

Then finally it will say disk error. I tried to copy the disk 2 using nero 10 disc copy and it fails too.

I was asking is there anyway to repair her disc 2 with some other special recovery program or should i just contact hp and have then mail another set of master disc?

You really can't fix a disc, its already burned. Next, use DVD +R/W, notice the (+), that is preferred for HP and they even tell you in the creation literature on that. Too late, but you can try to image the bad #2 disc, using IMGburn if you have it or similar. Image the disc #2 and then burn that image(.ISO file) to another new disc. This hopefully can correct a true bad disc, not the s/w on the disc. Meaning if somehow a bad disc was use, maybe a new one will help, that 's a last shot at it.

Which is why to order the HP restore discs regardless, if it has become this much trouble. If you hadn't already try using the other remaining discs in case they were numbered wrong, it happens.tada -Willy.
